Ranges are published national or regional figures, not quotes. Your pro quotes your job.
Why quotes vary so much
A tank that's never been located and is buried under two feet of dirt costs more to service than one with a riser already installed. A tank that's been neglected for years and is packed solid takes longer to pump than one on a normal schedule.
Aerobic systems add their own cost layer on top of a conventional tank, since the mechanical parts (pump, aerator, alarm) need their own service separate from pumping, and that service is required by the state, not optional.

Pumping and routine aerobic maintenance are the smallest, most predictable costs, and skipping them is what leads to the expensive end of this list. Drain field replacement is by far the biggest bill most homeowners ever face on a septic system.
Keeping up with pumping and, for aerobic systems, the maintenance contract is the cheapest insurance against ever facing that drain field number. Think of the small recurring costs as the price of avoiding the big one.
Getting a fair quote
Ask any pro quoting you whether the price includes locating the tank, digging if needed, and disposal fees, or whether those are extra. A clear, itemized quote up front avoids a surprise number once the truck is already on site.
